Frequently Asked Questions
We currently offer virtual sessions. Our in-person location is scheduled to open in the next few months.
We currently accept Maryland Medicaid and Medicare. Self-pay options are also available.
Each clinician brings different training and specialties to the practice. We have clinicians who are trained in Brainspotting, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and couples counseling.
Your first session is all about creating a safe and supportive space. We’ll explore what is bringing you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and gather relevant history and background information at your own pace, while building rapport and ensuring you feel comfortable. Together, we will also begin creating a treatment plan to meet your needs.
Initial sessions are scheduled for an hour, and subsequent sessions are 45 mins.
Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions, as this provides consistency and helps build the therapeutic relationship. The frequency of sessions is clinically guided and tailored to your individual needs and goals. Depending on your progress and circumstances, sessions may shift to bi-weekly or monthly over time. We will regularly review your treatment plan together and adjust scheduling as clinically appropriate to best support your growth.
The length of therapy varies for each person and depends on your goals, needs, and the concerns you’re addressing. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific issue, while others choose to stay longer to explore deeper patterns, process trauma, or support ongoing personal growth. Therapy can last anywhere from several months to many years. We will regularly review your progress together and adjust your treatment plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches to support different mental health concerns, goals, and preferences. The “right” service depends on factors such as what you’re hoping to work on, your past experiences with therapy, and the type of support that feels most comfortable and effective for you.
If you’re unsure where to start, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. Our clinical team is available to help guide you through the options, answer your questions, and recommend an approach that aligns with your needs. Together, we’ll ensure you’re connected with the service and therapist that best support your goals.
EMDR and Brainspotting are both effective therapies for trauma, anxiety, and overwhelming experiences. EMDR uses guided side-to-side eye movements (or tapping/sounds) while you briefly focus on a distressing memory, helping your brain reprocess it so it feels less intense over time.
Brainspotting uses specific eye positions to access and process trauma stored deeper in the brain and body, often with less structure and fewer words. Both approaches help your brain and nervous system heal—together, we can decide which feels like the best fit for you.
Yes. We believe healing works best when you feel supported from every angle. With your written permission, we collaborate with other healthcare providers throughout Maryland to help ensure your care feels connected and coordinated.
Within our practice, our Medical Director, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, is available for collaboration when medication support or psychiatric insight is needed. We also work closely with outside providers, including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, addiction treatment programs, and other licensed mental health professionals involved in your care.
By staying aligned with your broader care team, we help ensure your therapy supports your overall health and wellness goals.
